A Portrait of the Author on the Anniversary of Her Grandmother’s Death

Today is the fourth anniversary of my grandmother’s passing. And I just realized I have never actually published my senior seminar about her life on my blog.

I posted my craft essay but I was too much of a coward to actually post the 77-page behemoth that is my story of my grandmother.

There are a couple of reasons why I hesitated.

One is that this piece is extremely personal.

One is that I wasn’t sure if it was good enough to be shared.

One is that I was afraid it wouldn’t do my grandmother justice.

But in 2019 we’re setting aside our insecurities to honor our ancestors.

So here is my tribute to easily one of the best people I have ever been blessed to know.

Read it slowly or skim it or don’t read it at all.

It’s up to you, but I think this story deserves to be told, one way or another.

A Portrait of the Author as Her Grandmother

This one’s for you, Grandma.
